It hasn't rained in weeks, so whats up with all this mud?

There's a little drywalling humor for you... and it really is DRYwalling humor in a couple senses. Man, I sure am funny!

Oh yeah, I'm writing about the house - Here's some photos of the house with drywall and mud. Ceilings are textured too! We'll probably get paint up Monday or Tuesday. A nice contractor from Wisconsin is spraying it all for us so it will be a great chance to work on some outside things and get a really good sunburn. Soon It will be at a point where pictures just aren't going to do the trick, so I may start making some video tours for y'all to watch.

Drywall hung

This is Keith - one of Annie Lee's grandkids. He has been an excellent helper!
I know how this looks but don't worry Ma, I'm making healthy decisions

Mud on the walls (at this point, you say 'ohhhh, that's what the title was about!')

It sure is neat seeing them put this texturing up on the ceilings... it almost makes me want to become a drywall finsher... NOT!

I had some spare time, so I worked a little more on the difficult fascia stuff... only 2 more easy pieces to go!
Thanks for reading!

Gett'n There

Hey all! Yesterday was the halfway point for me being down here. 5 weeks down, 5 to go. Lots to do yet, but I'm pretty sure we'll get it done by the time I leave. I'm sure missing home, but its fun down here too.

In the past week, we finished the roof, finished the siding, passed our rough-in inspection and started (nearly finished) drywall. Not bad for a week, eh? Photos follow:

mini roof finished

drywall delivered... why do we buy tables? just order a ton of drywall!

shout out to John Ramthun for this awesome porch !

oh baby!

are you still reading these captions?

just a bit of fascia and soffit to finish the exterior of the house! Oh, and some shutters to add some flavor for all you design addicts.
For anyone concerned about my social life, don't worry... I made a friend. You can see how delighted she is to know me. haha
We almost have drywall handing done in the house, but you're going to have to take my word for it because I didn't take a picture of it.

6:8 Week

Well, this was a big week for the house. I didn't have much time because I was hanging out with all the kids when we weren't on the worksite so now I am finally taking the time to upload some photos of the progress.

I'm learning a lot about organizing and scheduling all the different tasks and getting some serious experience in being pulled in a thousand directions, but it is proving to be very fun! Enjoy the pictures
We placed the level on a random spot on the house...

...and this is what we got!

ready for 6:8 on Monday
Raising the 1st wall on Monday
On Monday night we had straight line gusts of up to 50 mph, so our 2 walls fell over. Rain day on Tuesday, but we recovered quickly on Wednesday!

A joistful occasion

Get it? (Its not a very good joke...)

Monday and Tuesday were spent putting in floor joists and blocking, today we passed our first inspection, built headers for the doors and windows and did some clearing on the site to make room for material deliveries. We've had a small group of middle schoolers and high schoolers this week and they have been very helpful with many of the projects, especially when they are motivated by food.

I am doing well in case you are wondering. Nothing very interesting to report on besides the house.

Enjoy the following pictures!

The posts are in!

I think the pictures mostly speak for themselves here... we are ready for our delivery of all the floor components on Monday and will be ready to go for the Wisconsin group by Friday. Today we relocated the 300 lb hog to a different farm along with setting all the remaining foundation piers. That was a bit of an adventure.

Personally, I'm missing everyone at home so if anyone wants to send a distracting text or something, feel free! haha

For anyone following this that was interested in how the water level works for marking post heights and such, I didn't have the chance to take pictures while we were doing that, but here is a good article that explains it well:

I just liked this sign at a restaurant.

The site before we did anything to it

Different view

Turned out none of us could figure out how to get the tractor in gear after we had put it right in the way of everything else we were doing. haha

End of the day on Wednesday, lines are strung and 5 posts set
